Directions: As you read the selected poem, follow the steps provided. Then, rinse and repeat for each line. You should write your findings in the margins….
READ the Poem one INDEPENDENT CLAUSE at a time.
Pronouns- Identify each pronoun. Who is it referring to? Or identify the antecedent.
Vocabulary- Identify any vocabulary that may be difficult to understand.
Draw a Picture of what is going on in the independent clause.
Write a one sentence response to the poem in which you expound on the meaning of the poem. Think about what the speaker’s message is. What is he/she trying to say?
